Why Grandma Never Explains the Car

People ask where the car came from. Grandma asks why they are walking.

People ask where the car came from. Grandma asks why they are walking.

There is an old car in the west garage.

Black paint. Cream leather. No visible registration.

Everyone asks the same questions: who owned it first, how fast does it go, and why does Grandma keep the keys beside the boxing gloves?

She never answers.

The car appears when a story needs it.

Sometimes outside a hotel before sunrise. Sometimes beside the gym during a storm. Once at the end of a road that did not appear on any map.

Grandma says objects become interesting when they stop being explained.

Then she starts the engine.
